Ronny's Story

Recycling the Dream.

Ronny is 25 years old. After leaving his school for pupils with learning disabilities, he underwent training as a recycling worker. Despite successfully completing the training, he was unable to find employment. Frustrated, Ronny began to apply for various other training schemes and internships in a variety of sectors, some of which were completely unrelated to his previous training - but none of these led to a job. When he finally came to A4e's office in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, in September 2007, he did display a positive attitude, but underneath it all, he had doubts as to whether he would ever find a permanent position. He was unsure of himself, and his own abilities. To make matters worse, he had started to get used to being unemployed and hardly ever showed up on time to the training sessions that were held on Monday mornings. However, little by little, he regained his self-confidence through a combination of training and one-to-one meetings at A4e.

Encouragingly, Ronny even started trying to find his own solutions to deal with specific problems. He received intensive help from A4e to help improve his literacy skills, and sent out a good number of job applications. He was not afraid of applying for jobs online, as he knew he could get the support he needed at A4e.

It was one of these online applications that led to his first job interview. A4e coached him through the interview process and gave him plenty of tips and advice. This brought results: Ronny got the job as a recycling worker and is now settled in his new role.
